We have a rather exciting summer event to share with our Advocate and Visionary members- a night at the opera! The Duchy Opera has a name for being one of the finest regional semi-professional opera companies in the UK. After arriving and having a drink in the beautiful walled garden, we will sit down for a meal before watching the show.

Set against the glittering backdrop of 19th-century Paris, this timeless tale of love, sacrifice, and heartbreak follows Violetta, a dazzling courtesan, and Alfredo Germont, a passionate young man who sweeps her off her feet. Verdi was inspired by seeing Alexander Dumas play “The Lady of the Camellias” (hence our stunning logo created for us by Martin Nixon). Their love is tested by societal pressures, family honour, and Violetta’s devastating illness. With its lush melodies, dramatic intensity, and unforgettable arias, La Traviata offers an emotional journey that resonates across centuries.
