On Wednesday 8th October 2025, Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union hosted 16 charities from across Cornwall who offer volunteering opportunities for students.
Over 1500 students came along to The Stannary at Penryn Campus to chat to the charities, showcasing a clear desire from students to get involved and give back.
The Woodland Trust reported over 100 students signing up on the day to hear about volunteering on their projects.
The Students’ Union is developing the volunteering offering this year to support local Cornwall communities and help students gain experience to make them more employable.
Izzy Brinkley, President Exeter at Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union said, “I’ve heard worries from students about the job market and how they can stand out. It’s good to see lots of people here today! I’m proud that our students’ union is always looking for ways to enhance the student experience and students’ employability and graduate outcomes.”
Charlie Florey, Head of Communities and project lead, shared, “As a lifeguard and long-serving supporter of the RNLI, I’m a huge advocate for supporting the charities that keep our communities vibrant and healthy. Without the charities here today, Cornwall would not be the fantastic place that it is, I’m glad that our students feel the same way and want to contribute.”
The Students’ Union are keen to hear from organisations that wish to offer volunteering roles for students.
