A new event aimed at business leaders, founders and professionals across Cornwall is set to explore an increasingly important idea in modern leadership: that calm, not intensity, may be the key to better performance.
“The Calm Advantage”, hosted by leadership coach and hypnotherapist Adam Pearson, will take place at on 23 April at Sea Space in Porth, Newquay.
The session is designed for people carrying significant responsibility in their work and personal lives – those making decisions, leading teams, and navigating constant demands on their attention, in organisations, communities and at home.
Adam Pearson, founder of adampearson.com, has worked with senior leaders and organisations over the past 25 years, combining business consulting experience with neuroscience and solution-focused hypnotherapy.
“High achievers often live with a constant level of mental activity – decisions, pressure, ambition,” says Adam. “And the leaders who perform at their best aren’t the most intense. They’re the ones who can access clarity. And clarity comes from calm.”
The event will explore how regulating the nervous system can unlock clearer thinking, better decision-making and a more effective leadership presence -benefits that extend beyond the individual to teams, organisations and communities.
Participants will experience a blend of practical insight and guided exercises, including elements of reflection, positive conversation and a restorative guided experience.
The session draws on Adam’s “I RISE” framework, a simple but powerful process focused on awareness, reflection, imagination, stillness and expansion.
As well as offering immediate personal benefit, the event reflects a broader shift in how leadership is understood, placing greater emphasis on emotional and collective intelligence, self-regulation and sustainable performance.
“When people feel calm and clear, they tend to make better decisions, communicate more effectively, connect more powerfully, and create more positive environments around them,” Pearson adds. “The ripple effects can be significant.”
The Calm Advantage is part of a growing programme of events and experiences in Cornwall designed to support both individual wellbeing and organisational effectiveness.
With limited spaces available, the session is intentionally designed as a small-group experience to allow for depth, connection and meaningful conversation.
