Cornwall is on the cusp of something extraordinary. We are no longer just a region seeking investment—we are proving what is possible when ambition, innovation, and strategic investment align. As the CEO of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, I want to highlight why our region is not only contributing to the UK economy but is leading the charge toward a regenerative, resilient future.

A Thriving diverse economy

Cornwall’s economy is as diverse as it is dynamic. We are at the forefront of multiple industries, from agriculture and renewable energy to digital innovation, critical minerals, manufacturing, creative industries, hospitality, and tourism. We have shown time and again that we are capable of driving growth and transformation, aligning perfectly with the UK government’s **Invest 2035 Industrial Strategy**.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund

Thanks to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), Cornwall has already demonstrated remarkable progress:

– Over £194 million in collective project value delivered
– More than 1,100 jobs created
– Over 2,000 individuals gaining new qualifications
– More than 800 tonnes of CO2 saved annually

These aren’t just regional achievements; they are national milestones that underscore Cornwall’s ability to deliver real, tangible results. But this is just the beginning.

Cornwall: A Strategic Powerhouse

Cornwall has the infrastructure, talent, and ambition to drive the UK’s economic and environmental future. Consider our unique assets:

-Spaceport Cornwall: A launch-ready facility positioning the UK at the cutting edge of satellite technology and data transmission, impacting industries from agriculture to defence.
– Deep-Water Harbour: Perfectly placed to support the emerging floating offshore wind industry, a crucial component of the UK’s clean energy future.
– Critical Minerals Sector: Essential for the UK’s green economy, providing the tech metals needed for electric vehicles, energy storage, and advanced manufacturing.
– Regional International Airport: Connecting our industries to global markets, enhancing trade, tourism, and talent exchange.

Academic Excellence and Industry Leadership

Cornwall’s academic institutions are world-class, leading in fields such as creative industries, mining, marine sciences, and sustainability. Meanwhile, our construction and manufacturing sectors continue to play a significant role in both Cornwall’s GVA and the broader UK economy.

Cornwall is not playing catch-up. We are setting the pace. We are taking bold ideas and turning them into reality. And with sustained investment, we can establish a regenerative economy that serves as a model not just for the UK, but for the world.

Cornwall refuses to be constrained by history. We are building the future, and we need the government’s continued partnership to make that future a reality.

We are fearless in our vision and bold in our approach. Now, we ask for investment that matches our ambition. With the right backing, Cornwall will become the gold standard for a regenerative, resilient economy.

This is a pivotal moment—not just for Cornwall, but for the UK as a whole. Let’s seize this opportunity together and build a stronger, more sustainable future.
