Budget behaviour: A shameful shambles

November 27, 2025
I wasn’t feeling particularly optimistic before tuning in to watch the budget announcement yesterday, and in all honesty, I knew there would be large chunks that I wouldn’t understand.

I was genuinely shocked and found it extremely uncomfortable viewing, not because of what was announced (to be honest that element got lost), but at the disgusting behaviour witnessed by us all in that room.

This isn’t about political views and what was or wasn’t announced in the budget.

Witnessing a female in a ‘leadership’ position trying to read a crucial document, whilst being heckled, interrupted and ridiculed. The budget announcement matters, this affects people’s lives! Clearly, the majority in that room haven’t experienced real hardship and this vocal mockery just outlined how out of touch they clearly are.

To them, this wasn’t about politics, this was about point scoring and belittling others, acting like spoilt children who haven’t got their own way.

As a country we’re meant to look up to our political leaders and have trust in their decisions, yet this is how they showcase themselves.  Regardless of political views, what’s happened to basic common decency, where we are respectful of opposing views and allow others to speak. It’s certainly not acceptable for the rest of the country to behave that way in their place of work, so why is this tolerated and these people indulged.

I hope the utter shambles yesterday was a reminder to everyone of how not to behave and a moment of inspiration to us, to be nothing like them!
