We are very pleased to invite you to a Bank of England economic briefing with Megan Greene, one of the external members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), on Wednesday 23rd September, 8:30-10am, at St Austell Printing Co.

Megan Greene is not only a member of the MPC, working with the nine members to determine where interest rates should go, but she is also a high level academic in the US and delivers speeches on economic policy and macroeconomic developments around the world. She is also a very vivacious, engaging person, so really good company too!

The MPC will have announced the September interest rate decision just the week before, so the background to that decision and the thinking of the MPC will be very timely.

Megan will set out her own thinking on the economy and where interest rates should go (she’s recently voted for increases) to meet the 2% inflation target, but she’ll also summarise what is driving inflation and how that is (or isn’t) feeding out across the economy, the outlook for GDP and demand, the labour market and pay pressures, etc. There will also be opportunity for Q&A.

This is an opportunity to hear from the top of the Bank, and to ask questions of the outlook and path of interest rates.
