• What advice would you give to other young people aspiring to make a significant impact in their field or start their own business?

The best advice I received early in my career was simple: get involved. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, seek out opportunities to engage with senior leaders, and say yes to new opportunities. These experiences deepen your understanding of your field and help you grow both personally and professionally.

For me, being part of my firm’s employee forum has been a great example of this. It’s given me the valuable opportunity to represent colleagues on important firmwide matters and to collaborate directly with some of the firm’s partners. It’s also helped me understand how decisions are made at a strategic level. This experience has grown in importance as our firm continues on its exciting growth trajectory.

 

• What is your proudest achievement over the past 6 months?

Can I say being named a 2025 30 u 30 winner?! I feel like this is a single accolade which perfectly sums up my achievements this year.

Professionally, I am proud to have passed my final ACA Professional Level exam and begun preparing for my first CTA Advanced Technical exam. I will start studying for the ACA finals next year.

Personally, shortly after the shortlist for the 2025 30 u 30 awards was announced, I completed the purchase of my first home – something I never imagined achieving at just 22. I’m incredibly grateful to my colleagues, friends, and family for their support through this journey.

 

• What are your aspirations for the future?

One of my earliest memories at Bishop Fleming was a meet and greet with the local partners, I think it was my first day. I distinctly remember a member of the group asking me where I saw myself in 5, 10, 20 years’ time. I said: “hopefully I’ll be a partner”. Imagine telling a partner you’re aiming for their job on your first day – bold, but honest!

All jokes aside, I still stand by that ambition. I want to grow with Bishop Fleming, qualify as both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor, and ultimately become one of the partners in the firm. Being recognised as a leader in my field remains a key goal of mine.

 

• What/who motivates you?

There are so many people, I couldn’t possibly name just one. My mum is my single biggest motivator and always pushes me to become a better version of myself, personally and professionally.

Aside from my mum, there are my wonderful colleagues, Adele Clapp, Tax Director in our Exeter office and Tax Manager in our Plymouth office, Nicole Beer. Adele unites our team across all of our nine offices and makes sure everyone has equal opportunities.

Nicole has helped me to grow in confidence more than I think she realises. I hope to support the new apprentices in our team in the same way Nicole and Adele support me.

One last icon who I draw inspiration from is Jonathan Bailey. I just think he exudes positivity, he throws himself 110% into whatever on-screen character he plays, and his work for the Shameless Fund resonates with me and my desire to help people in life. His work supports and, to use his words, ‘powers up not for profits’ which is what I hope to achieve, albeit on a much smaller scale, through leading Bishop Fleming’s fundraising team in Truro.

 

• What does being recognised as a 2025 30 u 30 winner mean to you?

Being named a 2025 30 u 30 winner is a real honour and a moment to reflect on how far I’ve come in my career.  It is reassuring to know that my efforts are recognised not only in Bishop Fleming but also across the wider Cornish community.

I’ve always valued being part of a firm that encourages us to make a difference beyond our day-to-day roles. Through Bishop Fleming’s 1% for Communities initiative, we’re given the chance to support local causes through volunteering and fundraising. Taking part in these activities has helped me connect more closely with the community, while strengthening relationships with colleagues and local organisations.

For me, this recognition is not just about personal achievement, but about being part of something that makes a positive contribution to Cornwall and its future.
