• What advice would you give to other young people aspiring to make a significant impact in their field or start their own business?

To a young person aspiring to make a significant impact in their field, I would advise them to start creating their own opportunities. We tend to think that opportunities will come directly to us, or that if an opportunity doesn’t seem to be presenting itself that it doesn’t exist. Sometimes all it takes is just pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and directly emailing someone asking if they would be willing to mentor you, or if you could assist them in a matter / project. Being proactive is the key to developing yourself and achieving your dreams.

A key piece of advice to someone starting their own business is to pick their battles. Whilst you might think that everything is a battle worth fighting, there are some battles that are worth fighting more than others. Being able to grow a successful business is often dependent on choosing the right battles to fight.

• What is your proudest achievement over the past 6 months?

From a legal perspective, my proudest achievement over the past 6 months was passing my SQE1 exams in the top highest quintile. Only 41% of applicants who sat the exams in July passed them, so to complete both papers in the highest quintile was  a massive achievement!

From a sports perspective, it has to be being asked to be head coach of Cornwall Girls U18s for rugby union. I believe that I am the first female coach to hold this position which is such an amazing privilege. I will also be coaching England U18 Girls for touch rugby, so I am really excited to have the opportunity to impact and develop the next generation.

• What are your aspirations for the future?

In the future, I would love to become a Partner of Stephens Scown Solicitors. Whilst I might be a few years off achieving this, it’s always important to have a long term goal in mind.

From a sports perspective, I would love to be one of the coaches at the 2032 Olympics in Australia. The Touch Rugby community is hopeful that Australia will choose touch rugby as the sport that it introduces in 2032. I am therefore currently working on a pathway to get me in the best position possible to be one of the coaches for the GB team.

• What/who motivates you?

I think one of my key motivations is myself, I have always been very lucky in that my family have supported me in everything that I have done. I truly think that this has empowered me to believe that if I want something enough that I can make it happen as long as I put the effort in and push myself.

You only get one life, you’ve got to spend it doing something that makes you get up in the morning.

• What does being recognised as a 2025 30 u 30 winner mean to you?

It is an absolute privilege to be recognised as a 2025 30 u 30 winner. To be recognised on such a prestigious list for a second time, and alongside so many incredible people means the absolute world to me.

The future of Cornwall is so bright and I hope that I, and my fellow 30 u 30 winners, can contribute to ensuring its growth and development moving forwards.
